Robin Simmonds

Robin started her study of Yoga in 2000. In 2003, she completed a 200 hour certification at Integral Yoga Institute of New York. In 2000 she began taking classes with James Murphy at The Iyengar Institute of Greater New York. She did teacher training at the Institute from
2007-2009. She assists Matt Dreyfus at the Institute. Her primary yoga teachers are Carrie Owerko and Matt Dreyfus.  She studies dharma with Marcela Clavijo

In 2007 Robin studied Anatomy for Yoga Teachers with Leslie Kaminoff at The Breathing Project in NYC (75 hours). Robin studied and assisted Thai Yoga Massage (Intensive 1
and 2) with Jyothi Watanabe from 2004-2006 at Integral Yoga Institute of New York and
Kam Thye Chow of the Lotus Palm School in Montreal (Ayurvedic Principles in Thai
Yoga Massage).

In her previous career as a dancer, she worked with the choreographer and filmmaker Pooh Kaye of Eccentric Motions, performing, choreographing and designing costumes. She has appeared at The Joyce Theater, La Mama, The Kitchen, outdoors at Lincoln Center, Central Park Summerstage, and several venues in Tel Aviv. In 1987 she and her collaborators were nominated for a Bessie for “Active Graphics”. Robin has also danced with Mark Dendy, Richard Move and Austin Hartel of Pilobolus. Robin studied Dance and Choreography at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1982-1986 and was a scholarship student at The American Dance Festival at Duke University in 1986.
